What a great weekend! It was my Girl Scout troop's annual weekend camp out and we had a blast. The weather was spectacular which made the entire experience very enjoyable. I think I've really started to enjoy more and more the idea of hiking and campfires and just the outdoors experience. I'm glad that this journey (and weight loss) has allowed me to rekindle the outdoors that I loved so much as a child. I'm thinking of planning a "Camp Out" for my 30th birthday. No joke.
The weekend included archery, hiking, canoeing (the girls only), and ol'fashioned songs and S'mores around a campfire. It was great bonding time for my troop, as well as for me and my daughter. The nights were cold, but we all bundled up and made do. Of course after it was all over all I wanted was food, a hot bath, and a long nap.
The food over the weekend wasn't the healthiest, but it was small portions and I was thankful for that. I kept my snacking to a minimum and wasn't overly hungry at any one point. In looking back, my appetite has decreased significantly compared to last year when I was constantly hungry. I need to go to the grocery and stock up on my regular stuff. I've really started to enjoy Oikos (Greek) Yogurt. It's high in protein and no fat. Great breakfast or snack food.
It's a dramatic change this week from the last. I went down 2.2 lbs from last week and lost 1.25" from my waist and 1.5" from my hips. This made me really motivated to get back into my routine this morning. I did 2.9 miles on the elliptical. I've hit 3.0 miles in 30 minutes multiple times before, but now it seems I'm getting into a routine with it, which is great. (Love that I'm doing 10 minute miles!)
Overall I've lost 31 pounds in 5 months. 7" off my waist and 5" off my hips. I have until June 30th to lose 14 more pounds, which is about an average of 0.93 lbs per week. I know I can do it.
My motivation is back. Spring is here and I feel like I'm coming out of my cocoon. It's all about change this season and I'm a part of it. Its rejuvenating knowing that I've been 5 months strong and yet the journey still continues. I'm filled with hope and joy.
