25 Random Things About Me

This note was on my Facebook page for a while, so I figured I'd copy it over to my blog so that you all can enjoy.

Enjoy!

1. I played piano from 6th grade all the way through high school. I stopped taking lessons my Senior year because my teacher wanted me to practice more and I didn't want to. I started wanting to play recreationally. It’s both a regret and a happy memory, cause while I probably could have pushed myself and really become a good pianist, I still have the joy of playing, that might have died had I not made the choice.

2. I have a scar on my left leg from when I was a kid. There was a levee that we would frequently roll down and some a**hole threw a beer bottle down there and it shattered, ultimately slicing my left shin. I had to get stitches. I have two wonderful memories of this. My brother carrying me home in his arms with tears and bleeding. My dad feeding me M&Ms from the vending machine while the doctor stitched me up at the hospital.

3. I'm always afraid of "losing" friends. Unfortunately I know have lost some along the way and I feel awful in the pit of my stomach every time I think about it. If you are one such of these friends, know that I love and miss you.

4. While I like petting other peoples cats, I hate cats. They're so full of themselves, so goddamn pretentious, and walk around like their shit doesn't stink. Well guess what, your shit does stink, cat!

5. I can't abide liars. Even for something simple. If you don't like my cooking, think the pants make me look huge, or have an issue with me. Fess up and say it. Don't lie. ... on second thought, maybe it's that i can't abide non-confrontational people.

6. I hate my brown eyes, but everyone else seems to love them. Both my daughter and husband have blue eyes.

7. I've been with my husband since I was a Sophomore in High School. He likes to point out to people that I dumped him twice and broke his little heart, and yet forgets that I always came back to him. ;-) We first met through mutual friends but when I first thought he was cute was when we went to a Halloween Dance and he dressed like Luke Skywalker. I thought he had cute eyes (I'm a sucker for blue ones!) He's my best friend and I can't imagine life without him.

8. When I was pregnant my husband wanted a boy (as most men do) but I (secretly) wanted a pretty little girl with blonde hair and blue eyes... lesson learned: women always get what they want.

9. I'm one of four kids. I have two older brothers and one younger sister. Growing up I barely knew my eldest brother cause he always away to school, but I always looked up to him. He will forever be my "big brother" in both name and title. My second brother was my best friend and partner in crime when I was younger. We got in trouble ALOT. Now that we're older we're less trouble makers, but share many common views that others don’t. My sister is my heart. Whenever I'm with her it feels like home, and when she's away its like having a child away. We're so similar its scary, but so many subtle differences it spices things up.

10. My parents raised me on Classic Rock and I love it! My first concert was to the Jethro Tull 25th Reunion tour and I was overjoyed. I grew up listening to my parents old records (CCR, Led Zepplin, Beatles, Pink Floyd, Foghat, Peter Frampton, etc.) I still listen to Classic rock today and still maintain that music was better back then.

11. I'm was an accountant when I swore I would never be. Basically I'm really good at bookkeeping and pretty much fell into it naturally. I'm not meticulous, I don't double check things, and I have a tendency to half-ass something when I know I can. I started off in customer service at the YMCA and miss it. I liked dealing with people.

12. I'm a huge geek. I play Dungeons & Dragons, RPGs/FPSs video games (upon occasion), and love virtually anything of the sci-fi/fantasy genre. I love it and especially love that my daughter is following in my geeky footsteps.

13. I can't wear two different socks... I can't even fold them together. Even if they're the same length, shape, size, and color but two different brands I won't do it. And to make matters worse, my husband could careless about my aforementioned issues. He folds them and wears them mismatched. It bugs me.

14. I love Baton Rouge, Louisiana but hate the weather 4 months out of the year (May - Aug). During these months I always want to move.

15. I have used Clinique products since I got my first Clinique items for Christmas from my sister-in-law (late 90s) when she was dating my brother. I'm pretty sure she gave me the "freebies" that she got, but after that I was hooked.

16. I went to LSU but didn't graduate from there. About half way through my degree a counselor told me that I needed to quit my job and attend school during regular hours and full time to graduate, otherwise I would never be able to finish. I switched over to University of Phoenix and spent a year and a half doubling up my classes with no breaks to finish. I regret not "technically" being an LSU alum, but I bleed purple and gold.

17. I went to a Saints game for my Honeymoon. I wore a veil, and my hubby wore a bow tie (we both wore jerseys) and we had a sign that said "Just Married" people didn't believe us, but its all we could afford at the time.

18. I've lost 75lbs from Oct 2009 until now. I still have more to lose. Focusing on my health and fitness has been one of the most difficult and most rewarding internal experiences I've ever dealt with. I've become kind of a fitness freak, but I like it.

19. I went to an all girls Catholic high school and loved it while I was there. I still look back on those days like they were "the best of my life."

20. After living in a house with siblings and then going directly to married with a child, I've never lived alone. So on nights when I’m home alone I get very uneasy and end up turning on the TV, radios, and all the lights in the house just to make it more comfortable.

21. I love to play board games. We have an extensive collection and I want more.

22. I'm a social-drinker. Sometimes there's beer in our fridge for weeks at a time.

23. I have a tattoo of a phoenix on my back that I love. I got it in Sept 2010. My sister designed it. I'm a living piece of art-work.

24. My husband and I (and now my daughter) leave little messages around the house (homework, etc) that say SHMILY, which means See How Much I Love You. We've been doing it for years. I've left many many messages in our house that have not been found yet. I've forgotten where some of them are.

25. I sing to music (loudly) and find people who don’t weird.
