Day 18 (The #Paleo Challenge) #GoDW

So this was a quiet and relatively uneventful week despite the "holidays."  Tuesday was Mardi Gras (but I Dub and I worked so there wasn't much parading) and Thursday was Valentine's Day.  While we both went out to dinner, Dub & I both ate relatively Paleo and reserved our "cheat" on the assorted chocolates at home that evening. (Oh, and a few BBQ chips whilst we movie watched.)  This past week I didn't have much scale loss, but between my b-day weekend, chocolates mid-week and those silly female hormones.  I'm not concerned.

For V-Day present Dubya pre-ordered myself and himself a FitBit Flex.  This is a man who truly knows the way to my heart.  It doesn't come in until Spring 2013, but I'm super excited for it. And that my hubby is really committing to eating well and on this journey with me.  He makes me the luckiest women on earth, everyday.

The rest of the week (including) this weekend were filed with healthy meals and paleo friendly recipes (some of which I have pictures posted below).

I was able to get in two of my High Intensity Interval Training classes ("Art of Strength") but fell short of my running goal, due to scheduling and having trouble waking up in the mornings.  I got a 2 mile run on the treadmill last Monday and another 2.5 miles yesterday.  Ideally I'd like to get 3 sessions in a week. I'm doing a 10K at the end of March, so I really need to keep up with my running sessions to get the mileage up where it needs to be.

I'm really proud of the fact that I've kept up with all of the #YogaADay Challenges via GrowSoulBeautiful.com.  (Pics below) Some of these poses are getting easier and easier as I go.

My weigh in this morning was: 196.4 lbs (down 2.4 lbs)

It's difficult to explain how healthy I feel.  The energy, the lack of bloating or inflammation.  Just the glow I have about me now.  It's like a feel regulated.  And it's because I am.  I can truly say that I'm very much sold on the paleo idea.  I'm about 4 chapters into Taubes "Why We Get Fat" and this stuff is making completely sense to me.  Where I used to be a paleo disbeliever... I'm converted. It may not be for everyone, but thus far, it's surely working for me.

For this week I had a short morning run. Planning to attend 2 HIIT classes and two more running sessions, before this Friday when my Dubya whisks me away to a couples trip (an annual thing) with our besties.

Make sure you cheer me on by commenting below or tweeting with the hashtag #GoDW.

  1. Glad you're getting around to reading some Taubes. It's a great book, and if it interests you at all, you should read its predecessor, "Good Calories, Bad Calories," which goes into more detail about the subjects in "Why We Get Fat." Sooo good. It's easy to stick with a lifestyle when you understand the science behind it. Keep it up! Also, that chicken salad looks so good. One of my favorite meals!
